Junghee Kallander

Junghee Kallander is originally from Seoul, Korea. As a professional dancer in ballet, modern, jazz, and Korean traditional dance, she has performed extensively in Korea and the U.S. Junghee performed in Hwakwanmoo and Fan Dancing at the Opening Ceremonies during the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul, Korea. She earned a B.A. from Kyunghee University in dance education in 1990 and a M.A. degree in Dance and Dance Education from New York University in 1995. Junghee was certified in 1999 by Romana Kryzanowska from The Pilates Studio and joined Power Pilates in 2003. She had worked as a soloist model in the Classical Pilates Technique DVD series for Classical Pilates Inc. with Dr. Peter Fiasca and Power Pilates director, Bob Liekens. She went back in Seoul, Korea and completed her Ph. D in Performing Arts at Kyunghee University in 2005. Her Ph. D thesis is titled "The Effect of Pilates Method on Dancers Cognitive Style and Body Awareness". Junghee published her research papers ‘A Qualitative Approach to the Effects of Pilates Exercise’, 2004 on TKJPE and ‘An Inquiry of Philosophy & Principles of The Pilates Method’, 2004 on TKAD in Seoul, Korea. Junghee was also co-founder and a director of Pilates Korea and Classic Pilates which are she begins to be an Affiliate Teacher Trainer of Power Pilates in Seoul, Korea. She taught the Pilates method at universities, academic societies, cultural centers and Pilates Korea & Classic Pilates and had been on many different TV shows on SBS, KBS, MBC, and Dong-Ah TV in Seoul, Korea. Currently, Junghee is back to the US and teaches at Power Pilates as a teacher trainer.
