Robert Harvey

Rob has owned and operated Salem Pilates since 2002 in Salem, Oregon. Rob grew up as a competitive swimmer qualifying for the Olympic Trials and finaling in the USA-Swimming's National Championships. Later while a swimming coach, Rob learned of Pilates and how it was changing swimmer's technique at the Olympic level while studying at the USA Olympic Training Center. He pursued his Pilates training in Seattle and New York through Pilates Inc. where he studied with and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 2001. Rob later joined with Power Pilates in 2005 bridging and become a Participating Training Center to become part of the standard in classical pilates education.

Rob earned his Masters degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Medicine from the University of Oregon in 1995 and received his Bachelors from UC Berkeley with a double major in Physical Education and Psychology in 1993. Rob also draws knowledge of the body in both form and function from a 5 year career as a certified massage therapist.

Rob discovered the principles of Pilates to be very powerful for improving the performance of not only Olympic and professional athletes, but also was gentle and effective for all types of people. With a strong background in health, fitness, and coaching, Rob has found Pilates to be the one approach to exercise that all of his education pointed toward.
