Jerry is not going to be the only famous Seinfeld in his house anymore. His wife, Jessica Seinfeld, is the author of a new children's cookbook called "Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets To Get Your Kids Eating Good Foods." Mrs Seinfeld appeared on the Oprah show yesterday to show off her culinary tricks to get kids to eat more veggies.
The conept is simple, but effective. You need to spend a little bit of time to prepare the foods, but how can you beat having kids eating broccoli, cauliflower or spinach without blanching? Simply add pureed foods into kid-pleasing dishes like chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, pasta, pizza, pancakes, cookies and more. Apparently Jerry's favorite is oatmeal raisin cookes with banana and zucchini hidden inside. Yesterday on the Oprah show, Seinfeld demonstrated how these recipes are kid friendly by having her friend take the foods into a local gradeschool. None of the kids knew the food was laced with healthy stuff! Even Oprah ooh'd and aaah'd after sampling several of the recipes.
Jessica does not claim to be a nutritionist, just a mom looking for ways to feed her kids healthy food without the dinnertime drama. Her book does have advice from nutritionist, Joy Bauer along with Jessica's personal tips for how to make dinner more enjoyable with the kids.
Maybe this Halloween you should test out some healthy recipes on your little ones and have your own trick or treat party at home! Check out the book at www.amazon.com.
