Have you seen the latest class offerings from Equinox?  The gym, home to Power Pilates studios in both New York and Chicago, has an amazing list of classes to chose from whether you want, Pilates, salsa dancing or meditation.  Many clients ask me about meditation and the best way to get started.  It always seems like you should just be able to sit down in a quiet corner and meditate by yourself.  How hard can it be to do nothing?  But, if you have ever tried to sit quietly for any period of time, you probably had 5 different voices, items from your to-do list, what you are going to eat for dinner, and different aches in your body all competing for your mind's attention.  The New York Equinox is offering an interesting class called Healing Light Meditation which could be just what you need to get into the meditation groove.  The class description states that a certified Reiki Master uses guided visualization to relax the body and mind.  The goal of the class is to help decrease stress and enhance body awareness.  While you mind is clear from meditation, do not forget to check out a Power Pilates class, too!  The full list of classes and more information about Equinox can be found here: www.equinoxfitness.com.
