My name is Andrea Dow.
A couple of years ago, I launched a business venture combining my
lifelong interests in exercise and nutrition. I’ve found teaching Pilates to be
the best job around, and I attribute much of my job satisfaction to the
fabulous training and brilliant mentoring I received from Power Pilates.
Pilates instruction is my passion. But I also draw from experiences as a Recognized
Yoga Teacher, a certified nutritionist, a certified personal trainer and
aerobics instructor with specialties in pre- and post-natal exercise. I have a
degree in Kinesiology from the University
of Wisconsin and my
fascination for all things scientific lingers to this day. I opened Core Concepts, my studio in downtown
Milwaukee, last
fall.
Between constant research and education to keep my
certifications current, meeting anywhere from 25 to 50 fitness clients per week,
I’m in a unique position to absorb and evaluate the latest trends, good and
bad, that keep my students – and yours – talking.
I plan to use this space to share ideas and research related
to helping students build practical workouts, eat right and avoid unhealthy
fads. I will be happy to answer
questions or share comments from readers whenever possible.
This wouldn’t be a dispatch from America’s Dairyland without a quote
from Vince Lombardi. So with sincere apologies
for the paraphrasing, here goes:
“Pilates teachers who can count to one hundred and pump the Magic Circle are a
dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their students and motivate.”
I’m really looking forward to this journey. Together, we’ll nurture our students to stay Fit to the Core!
