Have you seen Hardee's new breakfast burrito?  This past week, the fast food chain launched the Country Breakfast Burrito -- two egg omelets filled with bacon, sausage, diced ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and sausage gravy, all wrapped inside a flour tortilla.  It weighs in at a hefty 920 calories and 60, yes 6-0 grams of fat.  No wonder American's waist lines are getting larger!  If you decide to stop by Hardee's for lunch you could get the Monster Thickburger (1,420-calorie sandwich made up of two 1/3-pound slabs of beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered bun) or their 1,100 calorie salad (chicken salad -- topped with onion rings and crispy chicken and a whopping 83 grams of fat).

Hardee's idea behind their menu offering was to make the country breakfast available at restaurants into a portable version.  Jayne Hurley of The Center for Science in the Public Interest reminds us that Hardee's burrito bomb is half your daily caloric intake and a full day's worth of salt, saturated fat and cholesterol.  Hmmm, all of this before 9am in the morning is definitely NOT a good thing for your body.  Hardee's makes no apologies for the nutritional content and says they are targeting young males between 18 and 35 years old.

CNN reports that "the government's Center for Nutritional Policy and Promotion recommends a daily caloric intake ranging from 1,600 calories for sedentary women and older adults to 2,800 calories for teenage boys and active adults."  Make your food choices wisely every day and absolutely stay away from this burrito bomb!
