Get in on Nike's New Year's Challenge starting today! Nike is hoping to help people keep their New Year's resolutions by holding them acountable to their goals, otherwise, they will face serious consequences. Nike users can issue challenges to themselves by following this link:
http://www.nike.com/nikeplus/#home (click on goals/challenges) or use the homepage link for Nike + http://www.nike.com/nikeplus/
As of January 31st, Nike will start posting some of the consequences to unmet challenges....care to join a runner that has said he will be duct taped to a mechanical bull named Helga? That sounds like serious motivation to meet your goals.
One of the most publicized challenges will take place between tennis star Maria Sharapova and NBA all-star LeBron James. Sharapova's goal is simply to run more miles than LeBron in the month of January. If she wins, LeBron must be ball boy at a tennis match of her choice. If LeBron runs hoops around Sharapova, she will be his personal water girl at the game of his choice. Nike + users can vote for who they think we will win by donating some of their Nike + miles. Refer back to my blog on Nike and Adidas running kits if you need a refresher on how the Nike + iPod works.
NikeGo, an initiative to get kids more physically active, will also donate $1 for up to $50,000 spent on Nike retail for every resolution met during the Nike Resolution Challenge. This money will be donated to selected Boys and Girls Clubs around the United States.
I know my husband is excited to start using his Nike + iPod Sports Kit as soon as his shoes arrive this week. He is putting all his miles towards Sharapova simply because he wants to see LeBron be the ball boy at a tennis match. Who will you be rooting for? Better yet, what are your consequences for not meeting your resolution?
