Blogs, short for weblog, is an online journal that can be accessed by others 24/7. Oprah contributer, Sara Reistad-Long, reported on a unique sister crew and their widely popular blog, "Fat Chicks" ( www.3fatchicks.com). The three women thought a blog would be the best way to keep tabs on each other on their weight loss quest. After starting the blog, the sisters noticed an audience that looked to them for both answers and motivation. Seeing their audience, the women felt even more compelled to be honest and report the good and bad of dieting.
What was the result for the sisters? They have each dropped close to 100 pounds! The online community (now over 60,000 readers) proved to be a powerful tool for everyone involved. To successfully lose weight, people feel comfort in hearing the real stories of others that share their same problem. The stories can be cleansing. Does blog entry entitled "the day I ate an entire package of Pillsbury's White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie Dough while sobbing in my car" sound like something you have done?
