Pilates: Pilates Mat Class Gets Results!

A new study conducted by Kate Rogers, MS in Exercise Science from Barry University shows pilates gets results after just eight short weeks of class!  Body Composition, flexibility and muscular endurance increased in the group that participated in a beginner/intermediate level class 3 times a week for 8 weeks.  The class participants were compared to a normally active group of similar age and demographics who did not particpate in the pilates mat classes.  It is interesting to note that these groups had no differences at the start of the study.  The pilates group had significant decreases in waist, chest, and upper arm circumference, increased shoulder flexibility and muscular endurance in the abdominals and low back.  Another reason to continue attending classes regularly and expect reasonable changes in body composition and strength as a result!
