Pilates brought me to tears

Recently, a friend shared with me that she had just started pilates and loved the intense core workout.
After having a child two years earlier, she was ready to hit the mat and get in better shape.  

As theworkouts progressed, she cried at the end of the sessions.  Embarrassed by her tears and concerned what might be wrong, she asked me what might be the trigger?  
The answer lies in our memories.  Bodyworkers say that our muscles have a memory for stressful situations or injuries that have occurred in the recent or distant past.  Emotions often go along with injuries and can stay bottled up for years.  Pilates or yoga may allow you to retrieve and release some of those pent up
feelings or emotions.  

Joe Pilates originally designed pilates as a method that addressed body, mind and soul.  It should come as no surprise that clients today continue reaping the benefits of his comprehensive program. The next time you find yourself reaching for a Kleenex, relax, it is not extremely uncommon.  Let your toxins and stress go and you will feel better.....enjoy your cathartic release!
