Sunday, April 1st

Just because it is April Fool's Day, you may think that this next calorie statistic is a joke, but it is true!  Frightening, but true!  Did you know that a small container of movie theater popcorn without butter holds 400 calories and 25 grams of fat.  That equals 1/5 the calories and close to 1/2 the fat most people need in a day.  Not to mention, most of this fat is the artery clogging saturated and trans fat kind.  Thinking of settling in to your next flick with a big bowl?  A large tub of popcorn with butter packs in 1,500 calories and 130 grams of fat.  That does not include any refills or the high calorie/sugar filled sodas that people drink to wash down the popcorn......yikes!  The fat content alone is just not worth it.  The butter that theater's use seems like mystery meat to me.  You never know what quality or kind of oil your local theater uses.  Unfortunately, there are not many good alternatives to choose from.  Fill up before or after the movie or bring in a granola bar.   Enjoy your show without ruining your health!

Looking to find out what calories are in more of your favorite foods?  Check out the Calorie King website.

This site has loads of information on generic items like a turkey sandwich.  You can also type in and see caloric information on food items from fast food chains, restaurants and supermarket brands.   There are recipes, newsletters and much more.

Want to know how much exercise you will need to do to burn off Grandma's Easter egg surprise?  Simply enter your body weight into the CalorieLab website and search for the appropriate activity.  Too bad they do not list Easter Egg Hunt as an official form of exercise, yet.  CalorieLab.
