Walk a mile in my shoes

Did you know that about 70% of the U.S. population does not get enough exercise?  One of the biggest excuses is TIME.....I just do not have enough time.
Everyone is challenged with balancing work, family, friends and exercise.  To ironic part is that to properly balance our lives, we need to be healthy and exercise is key to health.  So no more excuses, promise yourself to make exercise a priority.

Most people underestimate their ability to exercise throughout the day.  We must seize the moment to move and there are so many opportunities in a given day.
Not everyone can afford a gym membership or wants to go to the gym.  What is the solution?  Well, a great way to keep track of your exercise during the day is a pedometer.  Keep it simple and avoid buying one that comes with too many bells and whistles.  Attach the pedometer to your waist band and most people will not even notice you are wearing the device.  You, however, will be able to track the number of steps you take in a given day.  The following website are all reputable sources for purchasing a pedometer (and all are under $20).

www.thepedometercompany.com
www.shapeup.com.

The recommendation is 10,000 steps per day!  This is equivalent to about 4 miles.  You will be surprised how this little device can be a great motivator and how many steps you actually take in a day.

A recent study by the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse gives you another reason to ask your boss for casual attire at the office (probably skip this idea if your boss is a Miranda Priestly- aka the Devil Wears Prada- type).  The study was conducted in 2004 with 53 men and women.  The results showed an 8%
increase in activity (about 25 calories per day).
It may not seem like much, but over a year, those 25 extra calories burned would mean about a 2 pound weight loss.

Other ideas to add steps to your day are walking to work, doing more yard work, parking further away from your office, taking the stairs and walking instead of emailing your message to a co-worker.

Get it and go!
